The following are some guide lines for applying fertilizer during critical development stages on various crops including daily application rate for commercial crops.

Part I    Far Commercial and large scale growers who use drip irrigation system as well as foliar sprays.

  1. Rose and Ornamental plants

Different floriculture farms feed their crop/rose daily, every other day or according to the season, organic liquid fertilizer/Eco-Green is applied to roots through drip system and foliar application (once or twice per week) as well as drenching. It is recommended to apply 70:30 proportions with inorganic fertilizer. Moreover, it is effective if Eco-Green alone applied regularly with rate of  20-35 liters per hectare per day mixing with 100-200 liters of water/ha i.e. you can use the 1000 liter tanker to irrigate 10 hectare once  adding 200 liters of Eco-Green or twice a day based on the season and weather condition. By using 20 liter per hectare you can reduce use of other inorganic fertilizers buy 50%. If organic alone used this rate need to rise to 35 liters per hectare per cycle.  Some flower farmers use 10 liter of Eco-Green /hectares but they do use more of inorganic fertilizers. The injection pump should be adjusted based on the rate and concentration used based on the flower farm experiences. Example a farm that irrigate 10 hectares per day uses 200 liters of Eco-Green and mix in a 1000liter tanker combined with other inorganic fertilizer (50% of usual rate of each chemical fertilizer). One tanker alone used for Eco-Green and other similar tankers for the other chemical fertilizer. For example you may replace the Calcium Nitrate tanker with Eco-Green since Eco-Green contains much of Calcium and Nitrogen 1950.50ppm Calcium (Total N 280ppm,Ammonium 97.04ppm,Nitrate 648,38ppm). Eco-Green Liquid Fertilizer has got all of the 16 different plant nutrients (see the table). If is used alone one can use 350 liters of Eco-Green per cycle per day to irrigate 10 hectares of rose farm and if used for two cycles the rate per day will double respectively. Each cycle of drip irrigation will last about 45-50 minutes.

Foliar Application: 1.1 New plantations: need to use foliar application manually. The rate would be 10 liters per hectare at the ratio of 1:10 Eco-Green to water. For established farm 5 litters of Eco-Green per 1000 liter of water can be used as supplementary feed once or twice per week.

  1. Root and tuber crops (i.e. carrots, beets፣ tulips, potato yam) per hectare 1st application: foliar feed 40- 75liters of Eco-green in 1500liters of water after emergence. If applied to root system through drip irrigation the ratio of Eco-Green to water in a mixing tank would be 1:10 which means mixing 75 liters of Eco-Green in 750 liters of water (pumping speed or injection per minute can be adjusted based on concentration or quantity fertilizer used and field condition); 2nd application: Foliar feed 4-6 weeks after emergence with 60- 120 liters of organic liquid in 2400 liters of water based on the species and the density of the canopy of the crop. Third round application: Repeat foliar application 3-4 weeks later after 2nd application as necessary based on your soil and crop condition.
  2. Leaf Crops (i.e. lettuce, celery, spinach) per hectare: 1st application: foliar feed 40- 75liters of Eco-Green in1500liters of water during seedling stage. Second application: Foliar feed 2-3 weeks after transplanting with 50-100 liters of Eco-green mixed in 2000 liters of water. Third application: 25-50 liters of Eco-Green on the 8th week or 3-4 week after the second application. If the crop is drip irrigated Eco-green water ratio will be 1:10 for all round applications for leaf crops.
  3. Solanaceous crops(i.e. tomato, pepper, egg plant) 1st application is 40- 75 liters in 1500 liters of water per hectare foliar application and drip irrigation same quantity of Eco-Green with 750 liters of water mixed in tanker applied fifteen days after transplanting. Second application: foliar feed at bloom with50- 100liters of Eco-Green in 2000 liters of water. Third application of 75-100 liters of Eco-Green for tomato after 3 weeks of second application when Eco-Green alone used. For pepper 3rd application of 40-60 liters of Eco-green after 2nd harvest mixing with 1600 liters of water. In the case of tomato the vegetative growth need to be observed to reduce fertilizer application towards the flowering stage so that so much vegetative growth doesn’t affect fruit formation. For drip system and root applications the ratio is 1:10 and uses the highest rate.
  4. Legumes(i.e. beans, peas, lima beans, mung bean/green gram) 1st application is fifteen days after transplanting with 40-75 liters of Eco-green and 1500 liters of water per hectare foliar application. Second application: foliar feed one week before 1st bloom (when terminal leaves are shinny) with 60-80 liters of Eco-Green in 1600 liters of water per ha. For drip irrigation use ratio of 1:10 in a mixing tanker and use the highest rate.
  5. Green Legumes such as phaseolus Spp: First applications fifteen days after transplanting apply 40-75 liters of Eco-Green with 15000 liters of water as foliar feed. Second application during blooming or 3 weeks after 1st application 60-80 liters of Eco-Green with 1600 liters of water. Third application 50 liters of Eco-Green with 1000 liters of water after harvest. If drip irrigated at the ratio of 1:10 Eco-Green and water respectively.
  6. Bulb Crops(onions, garlic, shallots, leek) 1st application : Fifteen days after transplanting/seedling stage/ 3-4 true leaf, foliar spray with 40-75 liters of Eco-green with 1500 liters of water. 2nd application:60- 80 liters of Eco-green with 1600liters of water at 7-8 weeks of planting. 3rd application:60-80 liters of Eco-green with 1600liters of water after 3 weeks of 2nd 4th application 100 liters per hectare with 2000 liters of water. For drip irrigation use 1:10 ratio and the highest rate.
  7. Small fruits 1 Strawberry, blue berry, raspberry 1st application: 50-60 liters of Eco-green in 1200liters of water only if leaves are light green to yellow. 2nd application: foliar feed of 60-75 liters of Eco-green in 1500 liter of water/ha. Ratio of 1:10 for Eco-green and water and use the highest rate. 7.2 Grapes 1st application: Foliar feed of 60 -80 liter Eco-green with 1600 liters of Water in early spring /ha and second application foliar feed of 80 -100liters Eco-green after leaf formation in 2000 liters of water/ha If dripped at a ratio of 1:10 liters of Eco-green and water respectively mixed in a tanker Use the highest rate for better outcome.
  8. Coffee and Fruits first application:1 coffee main crop: Foliar feed of 50-100liters of Eco-green in 2000 liters of water depending on size of crop & canopy Second application to the soil/root when flower set at a rate of 100-150liters of Eco-green in 900 liters of water per hectare i.e ratio of Eco-green to water need to be at list 1:5 respectively(soil need to be moist using irrigation water or rain). 9.2 Peach and cherry first application: Foliar feed for established crop  50-100 liters of Eco-green fertilizer with 2000 liters of water/ha after harvest or early spring. Second application: foliar feeding during fruit set with 100-150 liters of Eco-green in 3000 liter of water per ha based on density of canopy of the crop. If dripped use ratio of 1:5 Eco-green and water respectively and the highest rate per hectare and the soil need to be mist before hand.
  9. House plants summer: saturate soil with 10-25 liters of Eco-green with 250 liters of water every 2-4 weeks (Fertilizer less often on succulent and cacti). Winter: use same rate but fertilize every 4 to 8 weeks. Spring and fall: Flush pots with plenty of fresh water and fertilize with 1 liter organic liquid fertilizer 20 liters of water 2-3 days after flushing pots. Flowering plant: Add 2 liters of Eco-green to the fertilizer Tea at first sign of bloom or at the beginning season if known in 20 liters of water.

    Part II  Eco-Green User manual and recommendation for Small holder farmers

Cereals Wheat ,Maize and Teff

  1. Wheat: Maximum economic yield of wheat is obtained when fertilizer is applied in split application form especially for crop development and grain filling. Farmers either use combined application of both inorganic and organic fertilizer. When they use combined application of both inorganic and organic fertilizer they can use the inorganic 50% and the organic 50%. This means they have to use organic liquid fertilizer of 60 liters per hectare instead of 120 liters per hectare. Rate and stage of application for Eco-Green liquid fertilizer for full rate is 40 liters/ha mixed with 800 liters of water when the crop is at tiller ( Zadoks growth stage 21-26). At this stage wheat crop uses more fertilizer specially nitrogen and others nutrients for further tillering and fast growth and stem elongation purpose. The second application would be at swollen boot stage (Zadoks growth stage 45) and the rate is 80 liters /ha mixed with 1600 liters of water.  When it is combined with inorganic fertilizer the rate of application for Eco-Green liquid fertilizer would be 20liters/ha.during tillering and 40 liters/ha during swollen boot stages respectively. 

    Please keep the Eco_green in cool area as it has got living organism(effective micro-organisms)make sure you shake well the jerican/tank before use. Store also Eco-Green separate from other chemicals.

    1. Maize: Maze crop positively respond to foliar application of organic fertilizer( R.S. Messias al 2013 ). One benefit of foliar application is its efficiency, which can be up to ten times more efficient than soil uptake due to several environmental conditions. Conditions that impact root growth and consequently nutrient uptake include root damage by insects, compaction, drought, soil temperature, poor drainage and low oxygen. High or low pH can also affect nutrient availability. Foliar feeding in these situations may maintain growth and sugar movement above ground and actually encourage root development.

    Furthermore, a well fed crop is more efficient in water and overall nutrient uptake, leading to greater disease and insect tolerance. Maximum yield is achieved through adequate plant nutrition.

     

    Paying attention to product application timing and utilizing an effective product under the right conditions can maximize the potential response of foliar nutrient applications.

    Stage for foliar fertilizer application for maximum yield of maize is at V4-V5(ear set determination period) and  V8-V12(ear  elongation) and  during tassel initiation in the whorl. The rate of application needs to be 60 liters per hectare at knee height and 80 liters per hectare during flower initiation. It can be sub dived based on the above growth stages (i.e 60liter per ha during ear set determination and 80liter per hectare at   ear elongation period).

     

    1. Teff: Teff crop has similar responses as other crops to organic liquid fertilizer applications. This days the extension system introduced teff planting in rows and other cases seedling transplanting is also possible. Therefore, first foliar application could be made 15-20 days after transplanting while second spray can be done when flowerer initiated. Rate of application is similar as for wheat crop i.e. 40liter per ha during early stage and 80 liters per hectare during flowering stage. Eco_Gren to water ratio is 1:20 liters respectively for the concentrate and the water.
